Questions about buying a 2003 Corolla S

I'm thinking of buying a 2003 Corolla S. I have a 99 and just want to upgrade. How much different is the 03 from the 99? Are the 03's problematic? If so what goes wrong with them? I'm just making sure. The car has 78,000 miles is black with black interior.

They are asking 7999.00 I talked them down to 7200.00 I still got pay tax on it and everything. What do you guys think?

Just my opinion

Don't buy a 9th gen corolla, I understand with every car you have problems, But for build quality get something else like a Camry, or Honda Accord.
Problems I had so far.

Rear left Drum bolt problem, Had to replace the wheel hub myself, cost $190.
This has happened ever since we got the car, dealer said he never heard the noise,
Got worse as time went by, so bad, I had to replace it. It's a real problem some bolts weren't completely tighten. Toyota ignores it. Google it.

Interior near windows start to loosen up and fake leather becomes detached, fixed with superglue.

Electrical problems with front headlights running battery dead, dealership fixed twice, they couldn't fix the problem, finally problem went away. Weird.

Lights sockets both needed to be replaced, kept burning out replacement bulbs.

AC leaks, around condensor, due to rock hitting condensor.. Toyota didn't really protect this important piece.. Just google AC Corolla problems, There was a guy who went on a rant about why toyota didn't protect the front condensor.

Some other problems i noticed on the other corolla, I have 4 relatives who all brought around the same year (03-05) corolla S All have AC problems, and All have fan blower problems. One guy just drives car with fan settings on the highest setting.

Just changed the starter yesterday on my 03 corolla with 150k miles, That is normal, but now the AC leaks for the 2nd time so i'm going to replace the condensor..

Sorry to many problems for me just my 2 cents get a better build car.

I like my 30mpg 2003 Corolla S. Very practical and lots of room . The only problem I have with it right now is a low idle/stumble that I've been trying to track down. Other than that it's been great for the several months that I've owned it so far. 99k miles and counting.

It's either the 03 corolla or a 04 Solara SLE. What do you guys think? Which one will be more reliable? The SLE is a V6. Are those engines better then the 1.8 when it comes to reliablity?
