Question 08 S Trans Shifting Wierd

Hey Everyone I have an 08 Corolla S Auto Trans 26k miles On It,Well Serviced,And I noticed while coming down the hill Deceleration Only,It will Downshift on its own and hold in one gear at 3-3500 rpm,I have to really give her a boot full to get it to up shift and calm back down,Any Ideas ? She Is still under Factory Warranty But Wanted to know if someone has had this problem with their Corolla and knew the fix.I will be taking it to the dealer in a couple days hopefully they don't have to keep it I dont want to be driving my Suburban up and down the hill for too long (Its a Pig)

Downshifting for the auto is normal when going down a hill, at least in my car. If you are concerned, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for an hour and see if that makes a difference. Any CELs?

Your car is thinking for you. Your car's speed and throttle position is indicating a need for engine braking.

Don't worry, it's perfectly normal for the car to downshift to a lower gear and hold its revs high. That way you don't have to stand on the brakes and overheat them going downhill. All modern transmission have this feature.
