Just purchased

Hi
I just purchased a used 2006 dark blue corolla CE. There is 124,600 + KMS . It is a 5 speed standard .A couple of questions if I may.
The dark blue paint has the sparkly flects in it and probally a clear coat. What wax is safe to use on this paint.
The windshield seems to have lottsa scratches in it most likely from scrapping ice off. Is there a product available to remove scrathes in windshield glass and lastly for now when I let off the gas pedal the engine is slow to ramp down. Is there a cure for this Thanks for viewing and thanks for anyones time to answer

Can you remove the specs? It may be the paint,, does it have mica in the paint name? Any wax is fine but stay away from Carnauba wax, it only lasts 6 weeks. Most other store waxes do not last long either.

If you want to do a great wax job and not just a good wax job, buy a clay bar and use that before you wax. Not sure what auto stores you have in Canada, but most stores should carry it. Of the store waxes, I recommend the duragloss line and collinite 476, which may only be found at marine store. Walmart down hear carries clay, if you cant find those waxes, probably the best other wax you can get Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 liquid, not the paste.

If you want to go hardcore and buy online, Zaino is great and so is klasse sealants. Those are superior to store waxes.

As for the scratches, the only product that will help very light scratches is this: http://www.eastwood.com/glass-polishing-kit-pro.html

If your fingernail catches in the scratch, no product will help. You can only hope that a rock hits and cracks your windshield or just live with them.

What do you mean by "when I let off the gas pedal the engine is slow to ramp down."

Thanks Mikered
The flects are in the paint. I siad that so someone could tell the kinda paint it was.
Thanks for the wax and glass information. One time my father use something to wax or polish his car and took the clear coat off in spots. Now I can check for the names you mentioned. I see I can send for that glass kit so I may do that.
When I am shifting and put in the clutch and let off the gas the engine takes a second or two to ramp or slow down in the rpms which is just annoying. I was reading on here about cleaning linkage/ cable etc so maybe I try that. Is there a spring or similar thing that brings the gas petal back up quicker ,,,maybe that is weak. I don't know alot about cars as I had a Honda the last 7 years. It was 14 years old so I bought this Corolla and just seeing some things are a bit different. It's like changing wivies, it takes a while to get use to the new one.

You should not be able to remove the clear coat on the corolla when applying by hand. I highly suggest using a clay bar after you wash your car and before you wax.

As for the glass kit, it does work well on light scratches, but is very time consuming and you have to be careful not to burn your windshield. You maybe able to find that kit cheaper somewhere else, but stick with the eastwood kit.
