Just as an FYI:

I kept mine at 15 inch but with a wheel 6.5 inches wide and a 38 mm offset. I did it mainly for looks, but I also feel that the car seems a little bit more stable... but that could be in my head!

I went with a silver mesh wheel that match my car's color real well.

16".

17" is the largest I would go.

Anything larger and you're sacrificing ride comfort and possible wheel damage when you hit a pothole.

Yep, I have put 18" on mine, and now 17". The issue with the 18" was that it was problematic because the wheels were 8.5" wide and would rub on the wheel well when turned all the way. If not all the way, the wheels would not rub. My 17" Konigs now, have no issue with rub, but I believe they have resulted in less acceleration on the bottom end. They are also 8.5" wide. Just check the width, and size. I would say that 16-17" to 7.5" width would be the best performing, and overall most balanced size.

Ok, I would suggest doing 15" and 16" with 7.5" width and also you want a big tire. Bigger tires constitutes to feeling the bumps less, and the small size with bigger tire means that you have more cushion. If you go 17", you will feel just about every bump. With the 17" on my car, I watch every single bump and try to dodge.

Either stay 15 or 16, If you go 17/18 you will compromise comert also you may feel the car my becoem slower cuz of the wheels being more heavy, unless you find super super light wheels, but stll have the comfert issue.

17's and 18's are more for ''show'' then get up and go..
