2003 toyota corolla WEIRD problem

ok so i went out of town and my gf was left here alone.

she went to go drop off her cousins then went to mcdonalds
right as she exits the drive thru, the car dies.

tries restarting, no luck, won't even crank

she got it towed home and then i did this

checked fluids
check fuse box under hood fuses
tried jumping it

i cannot find the fuse box under the steering wheel

when i turn the ignition to "ON" everything comes on, wipers, radio, clock, lights, hazards, everything EXCEPT for the fuel pump..... you cannot hear the whirl.

i looked in the manual and i guess there is a fuel pump shut off system.

anything you guys suggest, i will take a look at it.

If it was only the fuel pump, I think it should still crank. In fact if it doesn't crank and it is not the starter (because it died on her), then it sounds like a more comprehensive electrical problem, like ECU? Is yours recalled?

It wouldn't be recalled. '05-'07 are recalled.

It could be something as simple as a loose battery cable. My wife had a similar problem with her car and found that the tech who installed her battery had cross-threaded the posistive cable and it would short out under load. Start by checking the basics and see if there's something simple, then work your way up to more complex troubleshooting if you don't find anything.
