Question about tire specs + wheel sizes.

Okay so i'm pretty much a cheap ass and want to get some rims to replace my stock ones(come on now, no matter what size NO ONE likes those stock ugly ass Pacer 83B black rims...plus mine are oxidized and nasty and hubcaps are just unattractive)so basically here is the predicament.

My tires are 185-65R-15, which I suppose means they're 15 inchs but i'm not sure in what respect, diameter or what? Moving on, the rims I've been looking at are of course 15 inches in diameter but they vary in width, for example some rims are 15x6.5 inches or 15x6 inches. I've done a little bit of reading(barely any)and what I'm inferring(and could be incorrectly inferring mind you)is that the 6 inch width wheel would look more normal for my tire? I spoke with someone who said that actually the 6 inch width wheel would make the tire look slightly off and by that he meant the tire would look slightly skinnier.

Anyone who has some experience on this would be greatly experience. You don't have to preach the whole "Nothing cool is cheap, nothing cheap is cool" I know the rims won't look the best but for the money I want to get what will have the best aesthetic capacity.
