Unusual beeping..

as soon as I open the car front door (driver side) a continuous beeping starts! This wasn't like this before. Earlier it used to beep only when the key was in. Any thoughts? I's probably something simple but I have no idea. Thanks

have to ask - are your lights on?

I know in my 06 i usually just keep the stalk for the lights in the off position (because the lights come on when I put it in gear no matter what, which i hate) but if it's in park and I want the lights on I'll have to twist it to on and usually forget it until I open the door to get out and get the same beeping.
