New Toyota owner with questions

Hello friends...

I am in Canada - and I bought an 03 Corolla today - anyone with advice on what I should look for and/or replace would be great.

Also, I am still trying to find an easy way of finding out whether this car is subject to a recall.

Thanks in advance.

Yours in Corolla....

Reg.

How many miles / kilometers on the car? To check for recalls you can go to the NHTSA website and look up your car, or you can call your local dealer with your VIN number and ask them.

How many kms? What are you looking to replace? Are you looking for maintenance intervals? I believe the only recall on your car is for bolts on the power windows.

thanks !

Thanks for the posts friends - my new 2003 Corolla, with 96,000 kms is in fine shape - just washed it and it cleans up nice.

The dealerhere is great - they took me through everything that the car had done to it - the original owners took it to the dealer for everything, even oil changes, so it was very well looked after.

The only recall remaining on it is a voluntary recall where they cut the gas pedal to make it smaller and remove some padding under the carpet under the gas pedal.

So, my next task is to figure out how to fix the little door on the dash that won't stay closed - it looks like a spring broke, and the dealer wants $250.00 to replace the whole section of black plastic that snaps into place.

Try calling up Toyota Parts Barn, they can look up the part number you need and they offer great prices as well.

The dealerships are notorious for setting extremely high prices on replacement parts. Just buy online.

gas pedal

It was referred to as a "voluntary recall," so I didn't bother with it.
