Canada check engine light

my check engine light has come on..all fluids are at correct levels..engine is running normally. Is there a way to turn check engine light off without going to garage? Some car have a sequence of operations which will turn light off...Would Like to see if it comes on again...then I could go to garage..

Thanks,

Happy 2004 Corolla owner

I hate the amount the dealers charge for checking codes.. Try a local lube shop. Mine will scan it for $20 & tell you what the code is.

Places like Autozone and Advance Autoparts will scan codes for free...I wouldnt pay someone to just read a code. My mechanic charges $65 to read a code but that includes the 1st hour of labor, so its basically free. I go the free route first, then go to the mechanic if I cant handle it on my own.

In Canada, you gotta pay... Smaller shops (Lube shops & part stores) will scan it for $20 bucks.. Nobody does it for free.
