USA Blew Alt 100 Fuse, replaced but car won't start

Went to start car (2005 Toyota Corolla) and the car wouldn't start. Dash lights came on but the car wouldn't turn over. Went and bought a new battery, the old fool at the auto parts store gave me the wrong battery. Hooked up negative to positive (vise versa) and blew the Alt 100A fuse. Replaced the fuse and car still won't start. The alarm goes off, the dash lights come on, but nothing else will happen. Any ideas? Any info would be greatly appreciated. This is really frustrating, and I feel like telling that old man he should have to pay for this crap.

Bummer, reversing polarity on electronics is not good. You may have blown the computer box and other black boxes. you will need to pull and test each one. If lucky some of the black boxes may have its own internal fuse that blew. Dealer tech should be able to tell you what to expect when battery polarity is reversed. You may be able to buy the burn boxes a salvage yard to same some cost. Good luck man.

sorry but....

im sorry that you have this problem.
however, most people make sure that they are hooking up the positive to the positive and negative to negative. so you are also at fault for not checking the battery terminals first before you hooked up the battery.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that i4getlots' post was in no way beneficial to this discussion. I'm pretty sure the OP learned his/her lesson and will check positive/negative if/when they ever install a battery again.

For your first post, you have succeeded in presenting yourself as a less than helpful person. Congratulations.

I'm going to go ahead and say Ohiowa's post was also not beneficial to this post. I'm glad you patrol these forums and try to be cool. you have no life, congratulations.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people that read this post thought the same thing I did, I just said it out loud.

Since my previous post was deemed not beneficial here is my advice

I'd go back to the original problem of the car not starting, before you blew the fuse.
Check to see if there is power going to the starter and if there is, you may have a bad starter on your hands.

I've seen this before.

You should of blown the 100 Alt, the three 15 Amp ECU and CIG fuses, and Other various fuses.

Check them all, its gonna be a pain to do. The only worry i have is the electronics grounded to the chassis which took a positive charge on the wrong end.

Does the stereo come on?
