I have a 2006 Corolla. I lost a key far from my house and had to get a new one made to get home. Now the security light to the left of the steering wheel keeps blinking. I don't think it ever blinked before. Is there any way to turn that off?

it always blinks when the key is not in the ignition. I assume you got a new key from the dealer? How much did it cost? There is a chip in the key that does not allow it the car to drive far without the signal from the chip.

X2 the security light is supposed to blink when the key is not in the ignition.

Where did you get the key cut? At the dealer with the chip in the key? They would have to program the immobilizer with your VIN.

Sounds like your transponder key system is malfunctioning. I would have the dealer check it out.

I had a locksmith come to me and make the new key. He hooked it up to something and needed my VIN so I'm guessing that's what he did. I guess I'll take it to the dealer and see what they say.
