High start up RPM

I just got an used 2003 Corolla CE with 98K. I changed the plugs with irridium ones, replace the oil with Mobile One synthetic, also the tranny oil and serpentine belt. My question is when starting up, it has a very high RPM hoovering around 2,000, then go down to 1,000 rpm after 5 minutes. What is the cause/ or that's normal for a small engine ?

My 2003 Corolla is the same. Starts up at 2000 RPM, then settles down.

Compared to all the other cars I've owned, it is high, but I got used to it.

Thanks, guys.
@Tom 2000: You own a 2003 Corolla Luxel, is it foreign version other than North America version ? Just out of curiosity. Thanks again for your share.
