Expansion Valve

Does anyone know where the expansion valve is on a 2003 corolla? I can't find any literature on how to take out and put back in.

you're talkin about the A/C system expansion valve? should be near accumulator, don't know whether it's accessible from the firewall or if you have to get under the passenger-side dash or something , never replaced mine so idk.

I am going to attach a link to show you where the expansion valve is located. You are looking for the 88515 which is attached to a pipe by the evaporator 88710A.

Hope this helps you out.

relay seems to be ok.Turned ac on and it seems to be working. Granted it is only 65 degrees out, but it was very cold air coming out.If there is a restriction in the system wouldn't that restriction always be there? I am thinking about having the system evaporated and refilled and then going from there. Is it normal that I can here a noise coming from under the dash sometimes when the a/c is running?

What kind of noise?

Might want to ask for a full vac of the system and recharge.

The noise is intermittent. I am not quite sure how to describe it. Kind sounds like air rushing into a cylinder maybe. Or like a balloon filling.. sort of. It didn't start making that noise until this year.

A restricted EXP valve puts the low side in the negative readings and blows warm air.
Consider full evac and recharge charging through the low side. 1.06 pounds.

Could be an exhaust leak noise and not a lifter.
Please don't treat your Toyota like an old Chevy. Put ONLY motor oil in the crankcase.
