I'll bite, what is "general car stink"?
In other's cars the smells are usually confined to cigarette smoke in smoker's cars. Rotting food smell in cars that haven't been cleaned out in a good long time. Musty/moldy smell due to water infiltration into cabin and mold growing. Smells from the air flow vents which can have various causes. Masking the smell is one way to fix the issue but the issue is still there. Better way is to find out what is causing the smell and either stop doing what causes the smell or use industrial strength cleaners to clean and deodorize the car cabin.
One common cause for really bad smells in cars is a rodent/cat/small animal has crawled up into some aspect of the car and or it's ventilation system and has died. Better to find out where it died and remove it in. I've read stories of people tearing apart the dash to remove dead critters from their cars.
