Energizer Car Battery

My 2004 Corolla LE's battery died. Took it to Sam's Club and wanted to have an Optima put in. Mechanic tried to put in the Optima (I was told they'll need to use a spacer to fit it in). Mechanic comes back and says there's no way it's going to fit...he said the cables were just to short to clamp onto the battery's terminals??? So they tell me to purchase the Energizer battery which has the same warranty as the Optima but half the price: Optima was $153 and the Energizer was $74. I got the Energizer.

My ? is has anyone else used an Energizer car battery....are they considered a good brand. Also, he sold me the 550 Cold Cranking Amps Energizer....is that the correct size for my 2004 Corolla LE automatic. Thanks in advance.

I'm on my second Energizer battery.

Bought it from Wal-Mart. Great battery for a great price.

Yeah, I was doing a little research. Looks like all the car batteries out there are pretty much made by a handful of companies, but marketed under many different names. If I'm correct, Energizer Batteries are made by Johnson Controls.
Looks like Energizer car batteries are pretty decent overall (according to some of the stuff I've read).
Someone made a great point on another board--- best thing to do is replace your battery every 3 years if you really want peace of mind. Just like anything else, they wear down after a while. The average lifespan of a car battery is about 3 years (hence the 3 yr warranties). Sounds like good advice especially if you want to prevent getting stranded...and we all know that tends to happen at the most inconvenient time. Thnks for the reply.
