I got rear-ended yesterday, just enough to scrape up and leave some paint on the rear bumper, knock some bits of my paint off, and some stress fractures along the top edge of the bumper. Everything underneath seems fine.
I was quoted $795 (including sales tax - 6%) for a new bumper cover, paint, clearcoat, etc this morning. The claims adjuster has not been out to look at it yet, but the guy at the shop said in all probability they will be paying to replace the bumper cover and not just a repaint.
I just wondered if that was a normal price, and what I might expect the adjuster to offer for the repair if anyone has any experience with that recently.
I've got another place to get a quote from, but can't get them to look at the car till Monday.

Thanks. Just didn't want to get lowballed by the adjuster if that was a reasonable price. He's coming out first thing Monday before I can get a second quote.

It will vary heavily on the labour rate in your area, which can vary a lot. Around here, typically speaking for a bumper replacement and refinish, you're looking at the neighbourhood of $800-1100 depending on where you go and if there are any other parts that need to be replaced.
So if the labour rate is slightly lower in your area (I'd reckon it probably is), the price you were quoted seems relatively spot on. Good luck with the adjuster, hopefully you come out of this alright.
I'm not sure how it works around there, but here the insurance company pays the body shop directly for the work done. If they pull things apart and there is more damage, they'll contact the insurance adjuster to get authorization for more parts. You never really see the money personally.
Unless you choose to get the payment and then get it fixed wherever you go, but if there is more damage then, you'll need to contact the adjuster yourself and get them to come take a look at it, etc.
