Is there a oil control valve filter on 1ZZ engine?

yes there is......you need to remove the oil control valve to get at it....I have not done it on mine yet...I believe it is on the drivers side below the valve cover going into the head......it is one reason whenever your check engine light comes on you should read the codes........if there was an issue with your VVT it should throw a code and the filter might be the culprit....

everyone should own a code reader...I bought my codekey reader at Costcos for $19

Should the filter be inspected and replaced/cleaned as preventative maintenance.
Is there any good instruction on the removal.

I believe the gasket on the bolt is bad on my car. I have a bit of oil below the OCV filter.
