Rear Brake question

Has anyone ever performed a rear disc conversion on the 9th gen corolla? I searched this forum and didn't find anything. I'm wondering if the TC or Celica rear brakes can be fitted on the 05+ Corolla in particular. If not the TC Maybe another Toyota such as converting the entire brake system to 5x114.5 hubs from the MKIII or IV Supra or Lexus IS series brakes.. If anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate it... Minus the fact that hubs suck in general... Rear pads are much easier to change.

In retrospect Google may have been my friend with this search but I'll still take any words of wisdom anyone may provide.

Do you have ABS?

ABS on the 05+ models came with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, which precisely regulates brake pressure at each wheel, usually varying the front/rear brake load to first decrease initial nosedive, and later to decrease the chances of the rear brakes locking up.

I remember when I looked into doing a rear disc conversion on my old '94 Corolla (no ABS) a different proportioning valve was needed since disc brakes require different fluid pressure than drums. I would imagine that this would wreak havoc on a car with ABS/EBD.

If you don't have ABS and can find a proportioning valve from a similar car with rear discs it should work...your best bet would be one from an XRS, but I think those all had ABS standard so they wouldn't have the old-style proportioning valve.

I did a google search and it appears that it's been done with the Matrix XRS and Corolla XRS and Celica GTS over to the Corolla and Matrix, I'm highly interested, however the few things I've read say if you buy a full brake kit for the Matrix or Corolla it's upwards of 1000-1500, however a couple other things I've read say if you can find a donor car all parts needed should be able to be had for 300-500 which is a little easier to swallow but don't know if it's worth it for a daily driver that I use for the MPG more than anything. I feel like I could just sit on the 300-500 and use it towards the down payment on my STi when the time comes to buy it LOL.

Well, my XRS came stock from factory with the Celica GTS front and rear disk brakes and pads. So there you go.
