If you want to stay with Toyota pink, it can only be bought at the dealer. If you want to switch to any compatible kind, you must do a complete flush. You cannot mix coolants and it must be compatible with Toyota cooling systems.

I dont know why all the bottles offbrands and preston included say you can mix with any coolant thats something I don't understand. I went to my trusty napa and asked if I could mix they said yes. Then he told me he may have toyota coolant. Out of the back he produced me 2 50/50 gallons of "Zerex" Asian vehicle Longlife/HOAT formula Silicate & Borate Free. All that means nothing to me. They were 13.00 a Gallon.I also bought straight prestone in the green color it was a matter of find what I need get it all then search while this snow pours down. Back to the search feature for me! There are so many opinions on what to do and what not to do its hardto tell the diffrence!

I used the Zerex Coolant after flushing the system with distilled water. The Zerex Coolant is pink as well.

If you use Super Long Life Toyota coolant, you only need to replace it every 60K (according to my manual), so it's not expensive after all. I would stick to the OEM. If you don't probably nothing will happen for at least a long time, but even if you have to replace the water pump, say 50K from now, you pay a lot more than the price difference between coolants. Of course you never will know what really caused the problem, and you may be completely OK, but I sleep better if I use the OEM coolant.

I agree, when I changed my coolant last summer I was in the same situation.

Most of the Prestone/Peek coolants at the parts store are compatible, but you are better off just going to the dealer and getting the OEM coolant.

Just get OEM SLL pink coolant. If you are still under 5year/60,000 powertrain, I would deffinetly still use the proper replacement. No matter what, good luck.
