Adjust or Rotate Brakes?

So today I was at my dealership performing general maintenance as indicated by the owners manual and they wanted to charge me around $130 to rotate or adjust my brakes? My car has about 40K on it and the guy said it was recommended but not required so I declined the service. Should I have gotten the service done? Or is this something that I need to do later on? Thanks

Not sure what they are trying to pull, I guess he meant adjust the rear drum brakes, for $130 that is easy money for them. I believe the rear drums are self adjusting but I do adjust mine.

I suspect the dealer intended to rotate your tires and adjust/clean your rear brake shoes. $130 is way too much for that service.

Many garages will rotate the tires for free (or under $20) when you have an oil change.

The automatic adjusters should take care of the rear brake shoes. No need to adjust them unless the pedal feels low.

Ok thanks guys. So this is something that I dont ever need doing unless I feel there is something wrong with my brakes? Is this just a simple case of a dealership trying to make money? Thanks
