2nd time grinding 2nd gear :(

Okay, so I drove stick throughout my teenage years, but got an automatic when I was about 19 until now (23). I got my 5 speed Corolla 2 weeks ago, and I can pretty much say I'm back to driving stick better than ever...but...

The 2nd night I had it, I was getting on the highway and got a little gas pedal happy and floored it in first, had some wheel spin and torque steer, and went to shift into 2nd and heard the awful grind noise. Eeek, so I got pissed at myself.

Just last night, I was driving my brother home, and it was snowing, the roads were covered a bit...I was in 3rd gear, and coming up to an onramp, so I slow down, clutch pedal is obviously in, but when I went to put it in 2nd, I started slipping a bit from all the snow, and when I threw it in 2nd it grinded again. It was odd because the clutch was fully pressed in atleast I thought It was fully pressed.. So that's 2 times grinding 2nd in a matter of two weeks, which KILLLLS me. I remember grinding gears a little when I first started driving stick, but I've had at LEAST 3-4 years of stick driving experience and wouldn't expect it to happen anymore.

Anyways... how bad is that for my car?? I know I didn't break anything because the car drives fine, but did I do any shaving of the teeth? Or any kind of damage, no matter how small? Should I expect to find metal shavings when I change the trans oil to synthetic?

Just wondering. That sound is god awful and I got so pissed at myself for doing it AGAIN in just over 2 weeks. Please tell me I'm okay.

You should not find any gear shavings in the gear oil. Few grinds wont hurt anything. Gear sets are tough. I not saying that you can not break them but some grinding, although not good, typically does not damage them.
