Hi!

How many litters do I need to change oil in automatic transmission in my Corolla 2005?
Do you recommend AMSOIL ATF?
Thanks!

U can do a search for ATF fluid on the forum, but most say the drain and fill method needs about 4 quarts.
Use the Toyota ATF type IV fluid.
They run about $4 -$6, from dealer. call local dealers for best price.
If you have high mil, may consider unbolting ATF pan and changing out filter also.

4 quarts (US) is what you need to buy for a single drain and refill but usually takes 3.2 quarts.. If you want to do a cooler line change you will need about 8 quarts. It is wasteful to mix Amsoil or any synthetic fluid for a single drain and refill. Not sure if you cant get T-IV in Poland from the dealer. If you want a recommendation on synethic fluid I suggest Redline D4, but buy what ever is cheaper. Mobil 1 makes a syn fluid too, make sure you get the kind that is T-IV compatible.

I noticed that the regular T-IV had poor shifting in pretty cold weather, especially in negative temps (F) not sure how cold it gets there. D4 had a noticeable change in shifting in the auto tranny. It worked so well I put it in my power steering reservoir.

Is this a 9th gen US corolla or something else? It looks like a 9thgen in your pic and you said it is an LE.

When you mix the syn fluid with the old fluid, that is ok, but only doing a single drain and refill gets you only 41% of the fluid replenished. You would have to do 5 drain and refills to get close to 100% of the fluid replenished as the torque converter cannot be drained. A cooler line flush is more economical. T-IV is not a syn fluid. Make sure the fluid you get is compatible with T-IV.

What do you think about "dynamic" method of fluid change - all fluid will be replace. Is it good idea?
