12v power behind glove box?

I had an xm radio professionally installed in my 2003, but I haven't subscribed to the service in quite a few years. I decided that I was going to take advantage of the modulator and use it for my mp3 player. It takes a little bit of modification to make the xm modulator to work with an mp3 player, but I figured it out.

About half way through my little project I lost power to modulator. At first I thought I might have fried the unit, but I cut the power wires and tested it by plugging it into the cigarette light connector and it worked. I checked every fuse that seemed like it could be affected. Nothing!

So now I need an alternative, because I don't know where the original power runs from and I don't feel like ripping out the dash. Does anyone know if there is anything behind the glove box I can splice into for power?

I could always take power from the cigarette lighter, but I don't want to lose the use of it.

you can splice the cigarette lighter wires for your modulator or whatever and still have a functioning cigarette lighter outlet, as long as you don't draw more current through it that what the fuse on that circuit is rated for.
