The past few mornings when cold the following happens:
Going uphill at roughly 40MPH under light/medium throttle (not enough to downshift)
There is excessive vibration from under the hood and a raspy noise...almost sounds like metal and rubber grinding. Giving it more throttle increases the intensity of the noise. It sound like it's coming from the right half of the engine bay. Once the car is warmed up the most I'll get is a slight vibration.
Any ideas?

I agree with Mikered30 that you should check your heat shield covering the exhaust manifold and oxygen sensor. It's at the back of the engine compartment between the engine's plastic cover and the firewall. To see if it is the shield, remove or loosed the four 12mm bolts holding the shield and take the car for a drive. If the sound is gone, you know that's the source. Replace/tighten the bolts and you should be good to go.
I recently had a strange metalic vibration sound during acceleration that was driving me crazy. Only by chance I found out it was the heat shield when I removed the shield to replace the oxygen sensor. After replacing the shield the sound was gone.
I still have to take the car in to have the engine computer replaced. My car is still under the platinum extra care warranty. Would the heat shield be included under that? If I can, at least while I am already there, tell the dealer to figure it out, I would much rather do that.
I don't think it's a mount, as it doesn't make the noise all the time, but the heat shield would make sense.
I also considered the belt tensioner, which is original and chirps slightly even with a new belt (that's on my list for warranty replacement when the computer is done). Maybe I'll get lucky and that will be the source of the chirp AND the other noise...not that I'm ever lucky...

Hey Woody - mine has a sound that could be described that way, I guess (hard to use words to describe sounds, sometimes...) - seems to be coming outside of the cabin towards the passenger side, I only hear it @ mid-40s mph, occasionally when just pulling away (1 - 3 mph, maybe). Doesn't matter what gear I'm in, and the sound doesn't change between, say, 43 to 48 mph and doesn't change whether I'm steady speed or accelerating. Hmmmmmm....
