05 corolla S code PO741

Hey just bought an 05 Toyota Corolla S with 72,000 mls. Had a code read at auto zone stating PO741 was the issue. Apparently it means the torque converter clutch selanoid according to the code reader. What might be the problem? The car seems to run and shift good other than the engine light comes on every few hundred miles. Kind of a bummer. Bought it, went 200 mls and chk eng. lt came on. Drove around town and light went off. Now its on again. Could the trans really be bad at such low miles?

Could it possibly be a bad ECM causing this code?

anais05: same here had the ECM replaced a few months ago and still getting the P0741 and the auto trans functions as good as the day we bought the car new, it's quite baffling and I am at a loss as to how to get it diagnosed correctly

you should check for lose or defective wire and make sure your shift solenoid sl is working properly, if that's not the problem most likely you have a bad torque conveter clutch. you'll have to drop the transmission and exam the tcc to see if it is bad, keep us posted on your result.
