Thumbs down Help :( Killed girlfriends battery...

I am really really good at installing sound systems and I put in a bridged 1000.2 into two rockford fosgate p2's. I ran the remote wire to the cig lighter because she is keeping the stock head unit. did this drain her battery? we turned the car on last night, drove it around and i tuned the amp in a parking lot. didnt really dim the lights that much when it beat but why did it drain the battery? my only guess is the remote wire and she said the cig lighter turns off when you turn the car off.... where do i wire the remote?

Your remote turn-on lead needs a 12v power source to turn on, which theoretically could be connected to the lighter (aside from the fact that your amp might pop when it powers on, which isn't good).

You either shot the battery because the charging system couldn't keep up, or you shot the alternator, or both.

I ran 10 AWG wire directly to a 300W Rockford amp bridged to a 12" sealed sub and haven't had any electrical issues.

I think your bigger issue is not the turn-on connection point, but the fact that you're probably taxing the charging system too much with the amp. You probably need to invest in a capacitor or replace the battery with a deep-cycle battery.
