Diagnosis help and advice please

I have a 2006 Corolla LE w/92,xxx I had a CEL and got the codes read, they came up with p2401, p2402, and p0431. This was at O'Reilly and they could not find anything for parts in the EVAP system both in their stuff or in Alldata.

I have not tackled any big repairs before, mostly easy stuff like filters, spark plugs and pcv valves. Should I even try to attempt a DIY on this type of situation or am I gonna have to drop $600 taking it to the Dealer?

If this helps I took some advice (probably bad advice) and after getign the codes read disconnected my battery for about 2 min and cleared the ECM out. It still runs well but shortly afterwarm up the idle is very low and the car shakes(rumbles?) very noticeably, like at a stoplight or something. If I drive much more especially if I have some time on the Interstate (say 5 min) the idle is not as low and the shake is not present.

So far now I have driven it about 25 miles since clearing out the ECM and no CEL but I am sure it will probably be back fairly soon after the computer gets more time to run its tests.

I did have one other CEL incident while at 30,xxx and my ECM was completely replaced under warranty.

This TSB might help: http://www.matrixowners.com/tsb/T-EG002-06.pdf

Some 2005 and 2006 model year Corolla and Matrix vehicles may exhibit M.I.L. “ON” with DTCs P043E, P043F, P2401, P2402, and P2419 stored. The EVAP pump module, which is part of the charcoal canister assembly, has been improved to correct this condition.

NOTE: All five DTCs MUST be present for this TSB to be applicable.

Also, do you have the updated intake manifold gasket, or is yours black?

^^ He only has 2 of the 5 codes listed. He probably has a bad charcoal canister or valve.

Did you check your gas cap? Probably not that easy.

Invader,

Thanks for the info, I have been out of touch for the last couple days. I'll have to check as I don't know for sure about my intake manifold gasket. Interestingly, I had to take it out of town and chance having to call AAA if I had trouble and since I cleared the code by disconnecting my battery it has not repeated the code and the mileage has improved compared to a couple weeks ago.

I will check if I have the older intake gasket is there a recall to replace it or am I on my own for it? I bought this new in late July '06 if that can narrow it down.
