How will 205/45-17 tires fair?

I did a little search about what rims would look the overall best when it comes purely to aesthetics and concluded on a stock suspension that 17" will probably be the way to go when it comes to the wheels.

Now that also means I'll need to get 17" inch tires I assume. I was wanting to make this as easy on myself as possible and not order online in case I didn't like a specific look or something and have to deal with return shipping, and all that jazz. The wheels I really want are the 17 inch MB seven x 17"X7 5-100/114 42SM. Believe the offset in those is 42.

On discounttire's website the only 17 inch tire that the site recommends is a 205/45-17. I was hoping that when I upgraded to bigger tires that my tires wouldn't look so skinny from the rear end. I'm assuming to get "beefier" tires I would need to get tires with a higher width so maybe like 205/55? But how would this affect that previously mentioned wheel and the overall installation in regards to the vehicle? Will tires outside of this 205/45 recommendation cause body/frame issues?

Thanks for any input other than "use search button".

Here's a tire calculator that I like:http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp
Everyone else like this: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Also, here's some info with larger wheels: http://blog.caranddriver.com/effects...ted-tech-dept/

What is your stock tire size currently? 195/65-15 is my guess (very common on Corollas) Try to keep the new setup's overall diameter the same as the stock tire to keep the speedometer accurate. Going with wider can improve handling and traction but too wide can cause rubbing. As long as the offset is correct (Which I see is correct) there should be damaging stress on the hubs and suspension. Your acceleration may be slower with the MB X Seven due to their heavier weight than other 17s. (They are nice wheels for the money but I see too many of them here.)

Any Corolla owners with this setup and advise? I really don't know the max tire width you can run.

my stock tire is 185/65-15 which i'm still using with oem steelies. and i dunno i don't see many MB wheels around here. i usually the five x on beaters that needed to get their wheels replaced, but i'm going to be putting 17 inch seven Xs on my car once I get the RS full lip kit installed so hopefully it will look a lot better than someone who only has the 15 inch MB wheels five/seven X out of necessity

according to that miata calculator 225/45-17 tires will cause my speedometer to read 2.1% too slow, which I guess is acceptable. the 205/45 rating is about .6% too slow. is the first number the tire width?

Thinking about it again, I think 17" MB shouldn't look bad as the spokes are longer. Everyone here has the little 14/15" MB on everything. I think your best bet would be 215/45-17 tire; it's just slightly taller the stock tires. Yes, the first number is the width; the second is the percent ratio of the sidewall compare to the width. For example: 205/65-15 means 205mm across the width, the sidewall height is 65% of the thread width, and fits on a 15 wheel.
