'04 Corolla Window/Regulator

So I was on my way to work the other day and when I went to roll my window up as I was pulling out of the drive-thru, my driver's window fell down into the door. In the process of getting the window up to keep the rain out (of course I was running late AND it was raining out) the regulator got bent. I took it to a local dealer and even though the window spontaneously fell out without warning, they said it had nothing to do with the bolt recall and offered to replace the reg. and window for $715. I couldn't get an explanation for how else the window would've fallen out so I decided to just fix it myself.

ANYWAY, I pulled out the old regulator and now have the new Dorman #740-505 regulator in place and bolted in but the plate that holds the window is hitting the outside edge of the door when I put it all the way up. I imagine it should be in line with the opening but it seems to be on a slight angle. Anyone have this experience when trying to change one of these out?

Turns out to be just another newb mistake. It's my first time working on a window so I didn't realize that the regulator goes higher w/o a window than with one installed. I put the window in place just to see and it works perfect. Thanks for reading in any case.

Good job taking care of that yourself. I love to read about people by-passing the stealer. Props to you.

Thanks! In the end it only cost me $155, a couple hours of messing around and 2 beers. haha Well worth it. It's the type of thing where having done it once now I can probably do it in 30 minutes the next time. What a racket!
