The winter road salt has corroded the wheel around the valve stem causing a slow air leak. How can this be remedied inexpensively? Can a tube be used? Or can the hole be repaired? Or is there an alternative type of valve that can be used? Or another idea?

I have no idea what they did, but its been working for about a year now. Mine got really pitted and chipped away right at the opening.
