New here...E brake help

So I finally got the will to change the rear brakes myself...and now my e brake does not work. Every thing is hooked up except for the e cable on the pass side. It came off the braket and will not go back on. It does not appear that it is threaded thru the bracket. There is a u shaped ledge on the bracket that is was in. I am in dire need as I have to drive and dont even know if I should or not. BTW the brakes work fantastic just no e brake. Thanks for any and all help.

Thank you for your assistance. I was pretty tired last night and was having some difficulty getting things figured out.

Do you have a picture showing what it is now?
Even after you put everything back on, you may still need to adjust the E-brake. I remember it should also be self-adjusting by backing up and stop.

If you are talking about this cable, it is retained to the other part by the spring on the cable. Use a plier to hold the spring away from the end of the cable, then remove or install the lever.

after you do that ^^^, a few good hard stops going in reverse should automatically adjust the brakes, that is, unless you turned the star-wheel all the way back, then you'll want to manually adjust it through the little access hole on the back-side of the brake assembly (still do hard reverse stops after manually adjusting too just to be safe).
