Canada Mileage again..

Sorry if this is old topic.

My 2007 Corolla S(Canadian version, the one with alloy wheel and brakes going with it, automatic gear and a moon roof) was not very good on mileage to start with. Before I bought this one new, I used a 2006 basic model and I remembered I normally got over 500KM every time from light on to light on.

I normally got 450 to 460 KM with this 2007 S, and the car felt gutless when stop before and start from red light.

Finally, the car broken down and completely lost the power in middle of the road last year October with the engine light on. It was tolled to the dealer, and they fixed the second day with the work description

Correction: RE AND RE ECM AND REWRITE VIN USING HANDHELD

I was told the ECM was replaced and but another girl from deal told me last time when I booked my service it was just a "rewrite". I am not sure what it is.
Anyway, the good thing is the car did not feel gutless anymore after ECM "fix"; the bad thing is the mileage sucked even more. I now got about 420 to 430KM for light on to light on, meaning driving a full tank of gas till the gas light turned on.

Is this kind of mileage normal? Any suggestion on improving the mileage? I start slow and never drive it like 'racing car" and check the tire pressure regularly. The car has been always serviced by a Toyota dealer, and every time the guys there were telling me it depends on the weather and the way I drive...and blah blah...

Thanks in advance!

how long have you had the new ECU in? because it has to re-learn and "settle-in" and will get better, like a new car

I had this one, supposing the old was replaced, since last October.

I think you realize even after the light comes on, it should go for another 50 - 70 KM. Probably even more.

I think from 'F' to 'E', my previous Corolla S used to do somewhere close to 600 KM.

The low fuel light is known to come on quite early on Corollas. Sometimes with a quarter of the tank or more left.

Reset your trip meter every time you fill up all the way and use this to calculate your real fuel economy.
