did you get a new one yet? I'm curious where you got it. I've been thinking about doing the same thing because mine is so scratched up.

Just wondering how it gets scratched up, it's not like something you're touching all the time? Anyhow I had a couple of dull discoloration spots on my 04 speedometer window and used Meguiar's Plast-X on it and it worked well getting it clear again! JMO

I bought this 2005 used about a month ago and it's got 103,000 miles on it. When the sun hits the speedometer window it glares from the scratches. I assume since it's plastic, cleaning it with a cloth is what scratch it. It's not hard to scratch plastic when you clean it. I also thought about about buying one of those headlight lens cleaners that is suppose to removed scratches.
The window just prys off with a screw driver as shown in the Toyota manual but it looks like you can easily damage it with a screw driver. There are a total of 7 pry points plus two what looks like 2 clips on the bottom that need to be released.

I would think using a paper towel would scratch it more then a soft cloth would, which is what they recommend for cleaning plastic, most people clean their inside windows with paper towels then just continue on to their speedo cover! You might want to ask your Toyota parts dealer on how to remove it, they have a blow up of everything with their part numbers...Good luck and let us know how much they charge you for the replacement $$$
