I pulled my MAF and sprayed it with MAF cleaner....... the bulb is kind of black with some gold color coming through it....is the bulb suppose to be gold and the black is dirt and grime on it. The spray might be making it a little more gold but it is hard to say..thoughts?

That is not the MAF, that is the IAT. The MAF is composed of the 2 wires on the the other side of the IAT. All you have to do is spray the wires with the MAF cleaner and let dry. Do not touch the wires with anything but the cleaner as they are delicate.

.oops my bad........I thought it looked different........I was at the end of my crc maf cleaner anyways.....I will get another can and pull it off again........thanks Mike!!!

It doesn't hurt to clean the IAT, but that does not help the MAF. Be careful of the o ring at the top, you don't want to dry it out with the cleaner.

You can spray and wipe the visible IAT sensor head clean with something like a napkin or Q-tip, which does help... MAF sensor element can only be sprayed.
