A bad clutch release bearing would be noisy with clutch released or disengaged, so it's probably the transmission input bearing. What year is your Corolla again, and was the gear lube replaced every 40000 miles?

i would say trans input bearing, if it was clutch release bearing i think it would have the opposite effect when depressing the clutch pedal.

No you are mixing things up here ! In this case, it's a faulty Clutch Release Bearing.

If you want to do a clutch release bearing job in a garage, you will pay minimum 300$ + parts. If the noise is not that loud, ignore it.

The sound goes away with clutch pedal depressed when the clutch release bearing is turning, not when clutch pedal is released and with the transmission input shaft bearing turning. Therefore, it's a noisy transmission input shaft bearing.

That's what I was thinking. Input shaft spins when clutch is engaged, release bearing spins when clutch is released. Bearing will only make noise if it's spinning.

Your clutch release bearing has gone. 100% that is the issue. You will have to get it replaced.
