Canada 2003 Corolla S Airbag Warning light on (error code 18)

Hi all, Im new to this forum and will really appreciate f some one can assist.

Couple of days ago i drove for about 1- 2KM while the hand brakes were up, I totally forgot to drop them down. Suddendly next day I noticed Airbag light comes on and off intermittently, but now its permanently on.

1. I dont know if the hand brake issue is co-related with the Airbag light?
2. Did some on-line research on how to use a jump cable to read the error code, I did dat and and blinked 1:8. I assume its error code 18.

Its a Toyota Corolla S 2003 (90,000miles)

Tnx.

No they are two seperate systems. Both on different splices.

DTC 18 - Restraint System : Open in D-Squib #2 Cicruit

It has something to do with the clocksping in your steering wheel. The system is detecting a short between the airbag and the module. You probably should not attempt to repair it yourself.

Because the airbag light is on, in case of an accident, the airbag may not deploy.
