Mass Airflow low voltage = bad fuel pump???

I am new here. Hopefully someone can help me. I have been driving a lot the last 2 weeks. First a trip from where I live St. George Utah, to SLC, UT for work 300 Miles each way. 2 days later to vegas 150 miles each way. At the end of the week another trip to SLC then a family reunion at Lake Tahoe 550 miles each way.

After arriving at lake Tahoe for 2 days I believe I was sitting in the car which had been idling for 5 minutes or so and the car ran rough for a few seconds and died. pulled out my code reader and I don't remember the codes but they were something to the effect of high voltage to the Intake air temperature sensor and low voltage to the MAF sensor. Checked my air filter and it was completely clogged. Looked terrible. Also the thinner filter in the top of the box was hammered pretty bad as well and also soaked with oil. Since I was away from home had it towed to a repair shop they couldn't look at it till the next day I told them about the codes So they replace the main air filter and took out the upper filter. As soon as they looked at it the next day everything was fine. Running perfectly they couldn't find a code or anything they could determine to be wrong.

Next day (yesterday) I leave from Tahoe. luckily I made it 480 of the 550 miles stopped several times along the way for gas and food. But stopped one last time 70 miles from home to get a drink real quick and the car started acting the same way and throwing the same codes. (some times after sitting for a while it would crack over run rough for a few seconds with no power if i put it in drive or reverse and die.)

Figured the Air intake temperature and maf sensors were bad and needed to be replaced, but the car would probably run if I let it cool down like it seemed to while in Tahoe (they also had some oil on them) Cleaned them with MAF sensor cleaner this morning but the car still wouldn't run...

Had my sister who also lives in St. George drive 70 miles with a new MAF sensor. I swapped it, but the car still won't start.

Had the vehicle towed 30 miles closer to where I live to a shop and they are now telling me that my car has a bad fuel pump???

This doesn't make any sense to me. I kept playing with things clearing the codes when they popped up and never saw anything beside the intake air temperature and MAF sensor errors.

So here is what I am wondering.

Could I have fried the Fuel pump by clearing codes and continuing to attempt to start it? (never received a code related to the fuel system)

Could the Intake Air temp & MAF codes hard set to the computer due to clearing and trying to start the car several times?

Is my problem possibly that I got an aftermarket MAF sensor? (I know with the Mercedes that I had before after market MAF sensors did not work.

The repair shop is telling me there is no power to the fuel pump and that is how they know it is bad. but is it possible the fault with one of these sensors is stopping fuel from being delivered?

please help. repair shop want $1000 for a fuel pump i have a hard time believing is bad.

Is it a 2006? Was the ECU ever replaced? What are the trouble code numbers?

Fuel pump is powered only when you start cranking the engine. Fuel pump cannot be the cause of a lack of electrical power to it, even if there really is no power to it... You should be able to hear the fuel pump (on top of fuel tank under rear seat) prime up for a couple seconds with a faint high pitch whine after blipping the starter wthout starting the engine, after car has sat for a long time.

Its an 07. I am not sure if the ECU was ever replaced. Should the ECU have been replaced on an 07? Can I pull the rear seat and get access to the Fuel pump? I plan to go pick the car up today. for several reasons I don't trust this repair shop. I will tow it back home myself and work on it myself.

Thanks invader I did a little searching and found a site to check my VIN and did notice that it looks like my car should have the ECM replaced in the recall. I heard about a Toyota recall a while ago. But that was before I picked up my corolla. Didn't even think to look for any type of recall.
