Canada Squeak - Corolla 2008

Corolla 2008 CE, 5 speed, standard, 63000KM. Just changed gear fluid.
Very strange behavior.
After driving for 15 Km, applying the brakes makes a squeak noise. Stop the car, idling (engine still on, shift to neutral), pushing brake - same squeak.
Shifting to 1st gear, slowly depress the clutch, squeak and some kind of whirling noise. Overall the shifting is OK, no slipping, no apparent power loss.
Any ideas?

I too used to have a squeaking noise when I hit the brakes. The problem was my rear drums. I just put a little bit of grease where the shoes move and the noise is gone. Have someone try to locate where your squeak is coming from.

Thank you for your reply. The squeak actually is coming when the car is not moving. After driving a while, I stop the car (not the engine), shift to neutral and hit the brakes - the squeak is there. release the breaks - the squeak disappears.

I understand Khadian. Your rear brakes move when the car is not moving. You need someone to listen to where the noise is coming from. It might be the rear brakes. My brakes used to squeak while the car was not moving. All I did was take off the drum and put grease on the contact points where they move. Have somebody listen to where your noise is coming from.
