P0138 and P0606 Codes

Hello,

I have the following codes that are showing up on my 2005 Corolla. Few questions.

P0138 - O2Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank #1 Sensor #2)

P0606- PCM Processor Fault

Could the P0138 be also causing the 606 error?

Found this: PCM processor fault is just the processor complaining that the input voltage from said sensor is out of range.


Should I first attempt to clean the 02 Sensor or just bite the bullet and buy a new one. I've read that the Denso brand is recommended. If someone knows of a part number, this would help as well.

Where exactly is this one located, any documentation on removing would be greatly appreciated.

Did you get the ECU recall performed on your car?

Is this the recall? If so, I never got any info in the mail for this. Would this relate to the two codes I’m getting? Just want to be informed prior to heading to the dealership.

As I stated in the first post, could the Oxygen sensor code be causing the P0606 error, if this is the case, wouldn't replacing the sensor / cleaning be the first step of fixing this ?

If so, then I'm looking for the exact location of the sensor.

I never heard of a any bad O2 sensor causing and ECU fault although it is worthwhile to change it to fix that code before you take it in presumably for the new ECU. I would not drive the car real far from home with an ECU fault, probably something that should be taken care of soon. Denso or NGK make good sensors make sure it is a direct fit, not universal.

Bank 1 sensor 2 is the lowest sensor underneath the car in the exhaust (NOT the one you see when you open the hood). You have to remove the carpet on the passenger side floor to disconnect it from the plug. Install it and clear the codes and see if the ECU fault comes back.

How many miles do you have, see this TSB. Hopefully under 80,000 miles

Unfortunately it has 101,000 miles, was bought approx 2 years ago as a Certified Used Vehicle. Since that is a TSB, and not a Recall, I’m doubting they would have replaced it back before purchase.
Per the replacement of the o2 sensor, should I disconnect the negative battery first, prior to removing? Not sure why I would need to, but better safe to ask first.

Correct, just a TSB so you pay now out of warranty. Probably would not hurt to call your local dealer, explain you are not the original owner, and give them you VIN and have them check for the ECU recall, better safe than sorry.

It doesn't hurt to disconnect the battery, short term memory can reset but is not necessary for a sensor change. Clear the codes after the install and let idle for a few min to see if the codes comes back. May have to hit the sensor with a lube oil a day before to let it soak in to ease in the removal of the sensor. Be careful not to strip the threads.
