My Latest Addition - 07 Corolla CE

I recently decided to let my oldest daughter have my beloved 7th Gen 94 Corolla that she has loved for years. My other daughters wanted to learn how to drive a MT on that car so I went looking for a car that was a little newer to add to my fleet.

I pulled the trigger on a sweet deal to good to pass up. It's a 2007 Corolla CE with power package, CC & a 5-speed. It will be a great car for my other daughters to learn on a MT. It's silver with crappy steel wheels but I'm going to put on my OEM 16" alloys from my 10th gen.

I only paid $6k for it & it's pretty clean. It has 63k miles on it. It was a stolen car that was not recovered until after the insurance paid off the owner. They recovered it with some minor damage to the left front fender & LF door. They fixed it & I was in the right place at the right time. I was actually looking at a 2008 Honda Fit that was really nice too. I drove it & it was a lot of fun & drove beautifully but it came down to not wanting to spend even more for a car that my girls would be using. They are thrilled & can't wait for me to put my touches to it.

It already has tinted windows. I'm going to get some type of rear spoiler for it & I even saw a front silver bumper from a "S" that I might install to convert it to look like an S model. Some mild lowering springs may be in order too.

Are there any decent front one piece lips made for the 9th gen? How about a rear valence that is one piece? I don't care for the strange looking 2-piece rear valence from the S/XRS.

on teaching your daughters how to drive MTs!

We got as far as "starts on hills" when my daughter threw on the parking brake, stormed out of the car and never returned. (But at least if she's ever stranded in the Gobi Desert and the only way out is a truck with a MT, I'm comfortable that she can drive it. Which was the idea.)

I would be disinclined to add anything low on a new driver' s car that could snag on things like parking bumpers and curbs, but maybe that's just me. Or maybe my daughter.

Congratulations on the bargain CE in any case!

My oldest daughter is very good with the 5M on the 94 Corolla. We lives in the hills so she had to learn quickly. My middle daughter did well on her first small hills the other day.

Their school doesn't have curbs in the parking area. I want to just get rid of the 4x4 stance. A small mild drop to make it look like it should have been in the first place. I just need to learn what springs drop it how much. I'm very familiar to the drop for my 10th gen Corolla but not for the 9th gen.
