I have a 2005 Corolla I bought new. I have installed 122,000 pleasurable miles on the clock. I have a very lazy clutch leg do to MS and am pondering replacing the car. I really don't want to because the car is dead nuts reliable and I like it.
How feasible is it to replace the 5 speed manual transmission with an automatic transmission?
Thoughts:
Is the current auto tranny or 9th gen auto tranny computer controlled?
Are there previous auto trannys that were vacuum controlled and stand alone from the ECM that would fit the engine and the CV's?
Would a wiring harness from engine tranny ECM from a donor car be one piece and also the console brake pedal fit the my car?
I am thinking about purchasing a new mfg. tranny from toyota for this if it is doable.
I don't imagine they make the cars very differently to facilitate production and reduce parts inventory.
My budget for this would be about $5000.
I know it is more than the car is worth and new cars are about $18,000 but I like the car and it has some scratches and minor butt dents that have occurred when I have fallen against it, that may cause a severe discount in trade in value. I thought I would like to put 400,000 miles on the car sooo.......

P.S. My other Toyota's are a 2005 Tundra (the best truck ever) and a '69 f40 Landcruiser with 29.000 miles from the Wyoming ranch
