Neutral Safety switch.

Hey everyone. I'm having a serious issue with a family car. 2003 Corolla LE 1ZZ-FE i believe.

This morning the car wouldn't start. I put the gear into neutral and the car started but just barely. After the car was turned off it did not want to start at ALL. From what i have read it might be the Park/Neutral Safety switch. Now i need to fix this ASAP this vehicle is used ALOT and every day.

I am looking to find out how to test what i need and what are prices of this part(s)

sounds more like a dead battery just from the description. if there was something wrong with the NSS then it wouldn't have started at all.

The battery is 2 yrs old. You must excuse my description. I tested the battery it reads 12.6. I tested the power to starter it reads 12.11, than i tested the ignition wire for contingency. Nothing. From what i have gathered in my research, it must be the neutral safety switch or the ignition it self.

How do i test that. I have not yet done any research so any comments would be more than welcome.

Thanks,

Sash.

EDIT: Wow id rather it be the starter. NSS is around $250 for this car, and the starter is only $130. Its crazy!

EDIT2: So after about 2 hours calling around for a NSS I had a crazy idea to test the starter again, this time using a multi meter, testing for Volts not contingency. It was getting volts. Next step test the starter motor, brought it over to a local advaced auto and it turns out that the starter was the culprit. Thank you to all for prompt replies!
