Cannot reset keyless entry

I'm driving an 04 Corolla, and have one remote that doesn't work.I've replaced the battery and that hasn't worked. I've followed the directions on resetting the keyless entry system, but after I turn the ignition from on to lock twice the locks do not reset in my car. Any ideas? Here are the directions I've followed:
1. Start with the key out of the ignition, drivers door is open all others closed and
drivers door is unlocked.

2. Perform these steps within 5 seconds.
A. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.
B. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.

3. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
A. Close then open the drivers door.
B. Close then open the drivers door.
C. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.

4. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
A. Close then open the drivers door.
B. Close then open the drivers door.
C. Insert the key into ignition and leave it in ignition.
D. Close the drivers door.
E. Turn the ignition to ON (Do NOT Start) then back to OFF.
F. Remove the key from the ignition.

5. Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should lock then unlock automatically
indicating successful entry into programming mode.
Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.

This probably won't help any but my ex-girlfriend lost here keyless remote so I bought a new one via ebay and followed the instructions to program. Nothing worked so I took it to Toyota and the guys were nice enough to do it for free. I watched them and what they did compared to my instructions were totally different. I thought it would be a 1,2,3 step easy process. That little project turned into a deal fix. Thats rare for me so good luck with yours!!!

Someone missed placed the keyless entry on our 4-Runner and we bought a OEM one off ebay and it cam with instructions for programming. Well I did manage to get some of the program to operate but in the end we took the new key fob to Toyota and they did it for us. So yes, in most cases you can get a replacement off various web sites.

I had to thumb thru 11 pages of threads, but these are the instructions I followed and they worked fantastic! Had that damn remote for 2 years and never worked once. After following these instructions I finally have 2 working remotes. These sorta look like the ones you posted but may be a little differant. You gotta follow every step in the time allotted to work.
Good luck!!

Hi,

I was looking to find instructions on how to program my 2005 Corolla LE keyless entry remote and I found these instructions to work for me, sharing for everone's reference.

The FCC ID on the back of the remote is : GQ43VT14T
  • Start with the key out of the ignition. Open the driver door (all other doors are closed). Driver door is unlocked (other doors don’t matter).
  • <LI itxtNodeId="19" itxtHarvested="0"><LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in">Perform these steps within 5 seconds
    • Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) Pull key out
    • Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) Pull key out
  • <LI itxtNodeId="26" itxtHarvested="0"><LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in">Perform these steps within 40 seconds
    • <LI itxtNodeId="31" itxtHarvested="0"><LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level2 lfo1; tab-stops: list 1.0in">Close, then open the drivers door.
    • Close, then open the drivers door.
    • Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) and pull it out.
  • <LI itxtNodeId="35" itxtHarvested="0"><LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in">Perform these steps within 40 seconds
    • <LI itxtNodeId="40" itxtHarvested="0"><LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level2 lfo1; tab-stops: list 1.0in">Close, then open the drivers door. <LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level2 lfo1; tab-stops: list 1.0in">Close, then open the drivers door. <LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level2 lfo1; tab-stops: list 1.0in">Insert the key into the ignition and leave in the ignition.
    • Close the drivers door
Turn the ignition to ON (as far as you can go without cranking the engine), then back to off .
    • Remove the key from the ignition.
  • Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should lock then unlock automatically indicating successful entry into programming mode. Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.
  • <LI itxtNodeId="49" itxtHarvested="0"><LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in">Perform these steps within 40 seconds
    • Press the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter simultaneously for 1.5 seconds
    • Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should lock then unlock once indicating successful programming. If the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps 6a and 6b as the remote was not accepted.
  • Open drivers door
