Sylvania Silverstar 9006 low beams, any good?

I do a lot of night driving on dark roads (Taconic State Pkwy). I need to replace the low beams. I was thinking of Silvestar XtraVision but with the DRL's on all the time would'nt they burn out fast? Any reccommendations would be appreciated. Thanks Joe (2005 'Rolla)

Sliverstars are junk. Go with philips extreme power, HIR, or Sylvania XtraVision.

HIR bulbs are the best bulb you can install in your halogen lamps. I have them in several of my cars & I love them. You won't regret getting them at all.

Those HIR bulbs sound really good. 1875 lumens and 1400 hours, compared to 1000 lumens and 550 hours for a standard 9006, with 55W power draw (51W for standard 9006). Wow. I didn't even know about these. Also available in 9011 for high beams.

$19.67 each:

I've been using regular 60W 9005's in my low beams by the way, which works quite well. I just have to burn off the two small plastic tracks in the bulb's socket to fit.

Even with their fake numbers (Wattage 51w = 115w), they are no where close to the HIR.

I just noticed that my Amazon link for an HIR2 shows a regular incandesent bulb photo, although the customer reviews relate to an HIR bulb.

More info on the HIR: http://store.candlepower.com/ph3rdge90h.html

Trimming: http://store.candlepower.com/mohirbuba.html

I know this is for low beams but the difference between the stock low beams and HIR low beams is no where close the difference between the OEM high and HIR high. The HIR high beams are really incredible.

The difference between the HIR low beams is huge once you install them. And since you use your low beams 98% of the time they are a must buy. That being said I have HIR bulbs in both my high & low beam & I love them.

Is the HIR2 safe to use in the Corolla? I'm reading in a few places that your headlights need to have a bulb shield to use these because they don't have a blacked out tip. Does the Corolla have the bulb shield?
