hey uncle just bought a 9th generation corolla with 45k miles on it for like 8k. i got inside and started test driving it and it seemed good but it had the very timings. ( no power windows, no power lock doors ect) and i noticed on the back where it should say "corolla" it dose not say it at all.
it seemed kind of strange for a car to be produced only 5 or so years ago to not have the basics (power windows) and to be missing the corolla logo
so i was wondering if there is a way to know for sure if the car was actually manufactured by toyota
The Corolla CE was available with manual windows & locks. When I bought my 07 Corolla CE I looked at a lot of them. If you want power windows & locks just keep looking like I did until you find the right car you want. Also look at all of the doors, hood, trunk & fenders for the vin label to make sure they match & that all the original panels are on the car. If it's been in an accident a body part may be different & without a vin. Many owners take the emblems off as they like the cleaner look or it could have fallen off.

Unless a Chinese knockoff somehow managed to make it stateside, you don't have to worry about it being a "fake" Corolla....

I'm fairly sure the 9th gen Corolla CE was available with manual windows at least for some years.
Some owners "debadge" their cars. But sometimes body shops are too lazy or too cheap to replace all the badges. So I'd look for evidence of rear body damage repair.
There are always things to be paranoid about when buying a used car, but I don't think Chinese knockoffs are a problem in the used Toyota Corolla market (yet).
My coworker has a 2006 Corolla CE with manual trans, windows, locks, and no-cruise control. A very basic car, the only comforts it has are power steering and air conditioning.

Corolla CE comes standard with manual windows and locks. Power is optional equipment. My 2005 CE is a convenience package so it comes with manual windows, power locks, and cruise control.

It probably came with a radio and clock too. In the past, you could get a Corolla without these two items and without A/C also.
Believe it or not, some people don't want power windows and locks, air conditioning, or even a radio. I once met a person who reluctantly bought a Yaris 3 door and still complained it was too big and too many features -- she actually went to the dealer and asked if they could get her a Toyota Aygo. She didn't even want the radio that comes in the Yaris base model and asked if the dealer could take it out.

Not uncommon at all. Plenty of Corolla's that come into the shop have no power options at all. The emblem was probably just debadged. I debadged my xrs, but its still a corolla
