Camshaft timing off?

Ok so i have a 2005 corolla, 1ZZ-FE engine. My issue is im going to a mechanic school and let someone else touch my car. i had a injection cleaning and induction cleaning done to my car. now it runs rough and throws out misfire codes and camshaft timing severely retarded codes. Im new to working on cars so not sure whats going on but ive been told i need to adjust my timing chain or replace it. Also when i push the clutch pedal in the idle speeds bounces back and forth between 1000 and 700 rpm and shakes bad for a second. Can anyone shed some light onto my issue. has 120000 miles on it.

The first thing to do is go back and check carefully everything that was touched. Make sure all connectors are well seated and that nothing is knocked loose. These cars have a timing chain, doesn't need replaced, but you wouldn't think they could have damaged that. Sounds like maybe something not connected in your air intake. There is a hidden tube that people have trouble with when they do an intake gasket that might have been disconnected. Also see if you can get your instructor(s) involved.
Make sure they got the injector wires on in order? I haven't looked to see if you can even mix them up.
Let us know what happens. Some more savvy people will chime it pretty soon on this I'm sure.

I am a firm believer in if it ain't broke it don't need fixen. I never fall for that injectors needs cleaned stuff. In the past I've seen all kinds of stories where this stuff screwed up a maf sensor. My suspictions would be something is really contaminated and needs to be replaced. Don't forget it will run a little rough after the battery is disconnected but you should not be getting a code. When you get it right remember when they try to sell you preventive maintenance tell em no thanks.

I guess there is a reason you don't want to take it back.

Did it do it right when you got it. Maybe they never cleared the stuff out after the service. Usually one or two good full throttle pulls will get the stuff out. It could also be they fouled the spark plugs. Did you check those. It is impossible to switch coil or injector connections on a 1ZZ so I would make sure the coils are all plugged in. A coil could have failed but is unlikely.

You do not adjust timing on a 1ZZFE it is controlled by the computer and is nearly impossible for them
To have messed with it short of taking your chain tensioner out and turning the engine over or taking off the front cover.

ALright so it wasnt taken to a shop or anything for service i took it to my school to have all this done( big mistake). and as for spark plugs i didnt even think of that so i will check there condition and if it is a coil pack is there a way to check to see if the pack went bad?
