Canada '03 2ZZ swap...

heya guys.
So i spun a bearing (pretty sure) in my 03 corolla a few weeks ago, i think a day before or the day of i left for my 2 week vaca back home in ontario... come back... knew about the tick in the engine, car was overdue for an oil change... get home to my place (hour from Edmonton) and after turning the music down, the engine sounds like its a transformer battle royal in the block... pretty safe to say its hooped... still runs, but its dead.

I need the car going as its my only mode of transpo at the time, and i found some replacement engines around the area for it at what I think a decent prices...

240k - 1000$ 1zz
120k - 1300$ 1zz

phoning another place tomorrow that apparently has some in stock, and gunna see what their prices are... these are reasonable and typical no?

anyways, im considering if its just as easy to replace the original engine with the 2zz and its not much more expencive and a DIRECT bolt in and plug in, then i likely will, but thats why i am here...

what all is involved in a 2zz swap to a 03 corolla S 5spd?

if i can get any info on this sooner than later it would be greatly appreciated.

Ive done some reading on the comparison of the 2 on toyosport...
http://www.toysport.com/Technical%20...tech_notes.htm

and am honestly content with the 1zz, its a daily driver not a race car... but if its an easy gain of 50hp then why the heck not?!

thanks for any info coming my way!

It's a direct bolt in but the wiring part is a PITA. I know of a guy that did it and I seem to remember the whole dash having to come out among other things. If you want a 2zz, buy a XRS.

Buying an XRS with be worthwhile if you really wanted a 2ZZ. Not only you get a performance upgrade, you get so much more, Now if you ask me what I would do, I would just get the 1zz and buy a motorcycle on the side. I love having two options!

The front axle is also different in Corolla 1ZZ and 2ZZ-GE cars.

You will also have to swap out the front axle since your stock 1ZZ will not work with the 2ZZ-GE drivetrain.
