Stereo Problem

I have 05 corolla S. I installed new terminals on my battery the other day and when I connect the wires to the battery I accidentally put wrong cords on the wrong connections. Now my stereo wont power up. I checked all the fuses and they all seem in good condition.

You probably fried your stereo then. Those things tend to happen when you hook the battery up wrong.

Just be glad you didn't fry your PCM.

The stereo is after market. Do you think the stereo itself might might a fuse that could have blown?

The aftermarket stereos I've installed in my cars and helped a couple friends installed has fuses in the back of the unit.

But these were Sony and Pioneer. I am not sure which unit you have and if it has one or not.

Better check all fuses and relays, you would be extremely lucky to have only blown your radio fuse. Does your car even start?

yes the car runs and everything seems to be running right but the stereo. I checked all fuses in the fuse box in the engine compartment and the one under the steering wheel. All the fuses appear to be in good condition. When I connected the wires to the battery and realized the connections were backwards I immediatly removed the wires. They only touched for a few seconds.

I pulled the stereo to check it's fuse. The fuse seems to be in good condition. So what else could it be?

Check if power is getting to the radio. if so then the radio is bad. Do you have the factory radio to plug in and test?

If you have power at the fuse but not at the radio then the wire between the two must have an open circuit.

Check the 15amp DOME fuse (also make sure there is power there)
Check the 15amp CIG fuse (again make sure there is power there)
Check the 30amp AMP fuse (if you have an AMP also make sure there is power there)

If you have power at these fuses and the fuses are good then the wiring is bad or the radio is bad.

Check for power at the radio's Blue/White wire and at it's Gray wire at the factory connector. If you have power at both wires the radio is fried.

I checked all those fuses, they're all good. My head unit also has a fuse tho, and that one is in good condition.

But are you getting power TO the fuses? And are you getting power at the wires I described at the factory radio connector? If so the radio is fried.

Would you rather me wave my magic wand and magically make your radio unfried?
