Battery Question

Ok guys, and girls feel like a real dumb a$$ here. As stated in my first post have owned toys since 1986. The first Toy 86 toy 22RE 4x4 Pu all manual options, windows, locks etc etc. Currently my 2004 Toy Tacoma all manual locks, windows etc radio even has a cassette. Now on the Rav 4 forum i have read all these horror stories about bad things happening to all the electronic devices when you change the battery out. Key fobs not working etc etc. My sons 2003 Corolla has a battery of unknown age in it since bought used. How much of a pain is it to change the battery out of a 2003 corolla, i know the mechanical part is pretty easy but how much reprogramming has to be done with the key fob and locks and etc. ??

Just the clock, radio channels memory and audio settings... ECU's OBD2 monitor tests and relearn cycle will be done automatically without any problem.

If you're worried about it just get a jumper box (or jumper cables). Attach the positive to the alternator power post or another power point (or pin 16 of the OBDII port). Attach the negative to a good ground location.

Then swap out the battery, just be VERY CAREFUL not to short out the positive cable to anything as it will be hot.

Make sure the key is off and there are no loads on the system when you do this.
