Uncomfortable Arm Rest 2004 Corolla

I might sounds like I'm whining but I recently purchased a 2004 Toyota Corolla S. I just upgraded from a 2002 Corolla LE. So far the only thing I don't like about my 2004 is the armrests situation. For some reason they put the right armrest a little too far back and about 6 inches lower than the left armrest on the door. So I find myself using one or the other because it's nearly impossible to use both comfortably. This might be a long shoot but does anyone know of a way to remedy this? Like raising the left armrest and/or moving it forward? I can't possibly believe that I'm the only one who finds this annoying.

By the right armrest do you mean the center console compartment because I have an 04 S and both right and left door arm rests are the same...If you mean the center console compartment I don't think it was ever meant to be a arm rest but then again the LE model came padded which raised it an inch or two but didn't come in the S black color! it's kind of hard to use both arm rests while driving isn't it?

Yes, I do mean the Center Console. I assumed that it was intended to be an armrest but maybe it isn't. Do you think if I purchased an LE armrest it would raise it a little? Because I can always dye it black.

I hope you can find one used because If you're going to purchase it from Toyota you might as well just take the top off and get it upholstered, I broke one of the hinges on mine and Toyota charged me $24 for a new set of two, I would hate to think what a whole top would cost! Then you still would have the problem of it setting back too far to rest you arm comfortably on it...The only solution I can see is to take the cup tray out or part of it and move the center console up to where you like it or like others here said try one from another make...Good luck!

"Invader" Thanks for the link. They say that the Scion Tc and Matrix center console armrest will work for the 2006 Corolla, does anyone know if that will work for an '04 as well?

It should fit but the padding is minimal and not worth it IMO. I had the same problem as you and eventually got it upholstered with a lot of padding. It really makes a difference.
